Infant
Colic
What You Need
To Know
Does your
baby cry in the late afternoon or early
evening and continue for hours no matter what you
do? Does continual movement seem to help? Does
your baby pump her legs towards her abdomen in an
effort to expel gas and push "stagnant food"
downward? The good news is Chinese medicine can
help! Stimulating acupuncture points on the
baby can instantly relieve the pain your child is
experiencing.
-
Colic is due to indigestion that
is caused by inappropriate feeding. Usually one
of the following is happening to make your child
cry.
-
The child is simply being
overfed (even with breast milk).
-
The child is being fed food that
is too complex for his or her digestive
system.
-
An infant's digestive organs are
still developing and are very sensitive and weak
until he is about six years of age. This
weakness means that any food too complex will
simply sit in the child's digestive tract and
cause bloating and pain.
-
Please feed your baby on
schedule, not on demand. If you put the
baby to breast or bottle every time he cries,
you may be overfeeding him. Crying can often be
due to boredom or fatigue.
