Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I feel any pain? - Most pain sensors are on the surface of the skin, so I'll rub the skin at the point before I insert the needle. The rubbing draws energy to the surface to keep you from feeling any pain. With most patients, however, I do not need to rub the skin because my technique is very good.
  • How long will the needles stay in me? From 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Are the needles sterile? Yes. By law I am required to use packaged, sterilized needles. Once I pull them out of you, I put them in a bio-hazardous waste container.
  • How many treatments will I need? That is dictated by your health condition and your finances. You might require daily treatments, but you can afford only weekly treatments. Then we do the best we can with the understanding that frequent, cumulative treatments are the best. Your condition just might take longer to treat that way. Some patients on the other hand, do very well with weekly or monthly treatments for their condition.
  • Will my insurance cover acupuncture? - Many policies will. I encourage you to check into this so if possible, you don't have to worry about the cost. I want you to concentrate on your health.
  • If my insurance covers acupuncture, will I have to pay you anything? Yes. Just the standard co-pay that you pay your primary physician.
  • Do you charge to treat auto-accident injuries? No. By law your auto insurance covers acupuncture treatments.
  • Do you charge to treat work-related injuries? No if you have filed your Workman's Compensation Report. By law, Workman's Compensation covers acupuncture treatments.
